future actions :: contest of patrons

History shows that plants and factories built by rich men don't so much remain in the memory of people as what they have done for people. Remember the Tretyakovs, the Morozovs, as well as Nikolai and Fyodor Tereshchenko who were our countrymen.

Thanks only to donations of Nikolai Tereshchenko, who was a sugar producer, a number of socially aimed buildings were built in Kiev, among them were: Pedagogical museum (now it is the Teacher's House), free hospital for general laborers (now it is a children's hospital located beside the Povitroflotsky bridge) and Mariininsky orphan asylum in the Pankivska street (now it is Institute of Psychology).

Before revolution charity received every encouragement and support from officials. Despite the fact that Nikolai Tereshchenko was alive, Oleksiivska street received his name.

The Eastern wisdom says: "Who gives, will gain; who saves, will lose." People who were involved in charity gained much: respect of their contemporaries and right to thankful memory of future generations.

We call you to participate in the first All-Ukrainian contest under the name "Ukrainian patron - 2002."
